Dear Polo Puppy,
15 years ago July 18th, 2003 we picked up 2 puppies – you and your sweet sister Cookie. We rescued you and you rescued us right back. Cookie the princess and Polo the tomboy puppy. It was the beginning of a love story that we didn’t know existed.
You brought us such joy and love and laughter. Our hearts were full when we came home at the end of the day and you were both there. You brought us too many smiles to count with all of your shenanigans!! Cookie always being the one willing to watch as you jumped to the counter and grabbed loaves of bread or bags of hotdog and hamburger buns! She never tattled on you even when you jumped in the bin of food and ate your fill. No Polo you are not a retriever!
With much sadness we let Cookie go over the rainbow bridge on Nov 5th, 2016 and we had to help each other with that great loss. You broke our hearts when you went outside on the deck calling for her. There were many times we all thought we had heard her special little Cookie bark-in fact we were sure!
With time we each dealt with her loss and remember her with love. We noticed that you have been going out to the deck and searching around – looking once again for Cookie. I’m sure she has been beckoning to you to cross over the rainbow bridge and come to play! Waiting with a smile on her face. Do you know the one? The one where she is about to take off running around holding her bunny and thrashing it about! (She loved her bunny!!)
Well, it is time for us to show you how much we love you by letting you go peacefully. Run across the rainbow bridge as fast as you can with your ducky!! Cookie puppy will be waiting for you and show you all the fun on the other side!! She can once again watch her little sister get up to no good!! LOL
Our hearts will break in the physical world but we love you both and will miss you every single day!!
Give Cookie Puppy a great big kiss when you see her from Mommy & Daddy
Love you love you love you!!!
May 11, 2003 – November 5, 2016
Dear Cookie,
I know that you are waiting anxiously for your sister who’s coming to see you over the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday. She has been missing you a lot since you left 1 year & 8 months ago.
We have missed you every single day, but now we miss you with smiles instead of tears. We talk about your funny little antics and very social personality all the time. How you loved everyone and everyone loved you!! Couldn’t help it – you were always smiling. You thought all the dogs in the neighborhood were your best friends. (and they were!!)
We laugh about how you decided to drink my red wine and tipped the glass all over your little white face. LOL How you also would drink my coffee if I left it unattended! You would tattle on Polo if she opened the baby gate and ran upstairs without you! You always wanted to be with Polo and sat on daddy’s shoulder whenever he ate popcorn!
You were the perfect balance of puppies. Cookie the princess who didn’t want to get her hair wet and Polo the protector of the family. You would follow Polo anywhere! Now it’s time for Polo to follow you.
We know that Polo will run as fast as she can over the Rainbow Bridge to see her best friend and sister! She will be smiling all the way as will you – happy to be reunited.
It breaks our hearts to lose her too but we know that you will look after your little sister when she gets there and introduce her to all of your new friends.
Watch for mom and dad from the other side of the bridge as I am sure you will be the first ones we see when our time comes.
Hugs and kisses from mommy and daddy! We love you Cookie puppy!

2009 – 2022
What can I say? Ginger has been my best girl for 11 years. She was such a trooper through all of her medical woes throughout the years. She was so excited to see me after leaving the house just for 5 minutes to get the mail. We had a lot of good chats together, especially over the last few months, she helped me get through a tough time in my life. I’m going to miss you more than words, Ginger. I love you so so much. Mama. ❤
On January 3, 2023 I said goodbye to my little moth-eating, beer-drinking man who had vocal stylings better than many *people* I know. YoYo holds a very big space in my heart. He was just shy of his 20th birthday, and when we got him almost 20 years ago as a rescue, he chose us. As we were leaving the pet store he spoke up very loudly as if to say “excuse me?? Are you forgetting someone??’’…it didn’t take us long before he was being whisked away to his new home in a cardboard box in the backseat of the car.
YoYo was the runt of the litter, and was very tiny as a kitten. He never got very big, even as he reached his adult years, but his personality and strong voice made up for it. He was the real ruler of the roost, and my life will not be the same without him. I am beyond devastated, but it was his time, and he let me know it. As always, YoYo, your wish is my command. Say hi to Ginger and Grandpa. I love you so so much. Mommy
“How lucky we were to have known someone who made saying goodbye so hard!”
