Veterinary exams allow early detection of health issues and keep us up to date with your pet.
It’s important to stay on top of your loyal companion’s health as they grow. This is why we have a comprehensive life-stage wellness program. Yearly veterinary exams are similar to human doctor checkups. So much can happen within a year, and their care must be on par with their new developments.
A veterinary exam includes a physical examination and consultation. We examine your pet’s entire body, checking for any abnormalities on the skin, paws, and fur and assessing how alert they are. Depending on your pet’s needs, we may recommend bloodwork, urinalysis or fecal testing during the exam. By running diagnostics, we can detect diseases early and provide treatment, so your pet has a longer healthy life. Even if the results are normal, we can use this baseline health information to interpret results later in their life. The veterinarian will also discuss your pet’s lifestyle, behaviours, nutrition, vaccines, and individual needs.
All pets should have their first veterinary exam when they join your family. An initial veterinary exam is necessary for your veterinarian to create a personalized healthcare plan. Following that initial visit, all adult pets should have an annual exam. If your pet has medical considerations, they may need more veterinary check-ups to monitor their health. Additionally, if you have a puppy/kitten, they need three veterinary visits each year since they haven’t built up much immunity. Senior pets need bi-annual wellness exams as they are prone to many age-related illnesses.
