Dr. Mary DeCaire Veterinarian

Dr. DeCaire graduated with honours from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1976. After graduation, she practiced ranch medicine in the Alberta foothills for five years. In 1981, Dr. DeCaire returned home to Muskoka and established Centennial Animal Hospital and Gravenhurst Veterinary Services. 

In 2004, Dr. DeCaire was honoured to be awarded the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association “Award of Merit”. She was also a recipient of the Ontario Alumni Association Alumni, “Volunteer of the Year” award.

Most of her time in practice is spent in veterinary dentistry. The majority of her continuing education is focused on dental courses to ensure Centennial can offer the best possible dental treatments for our patients.

Dr. DeCaire spent 11 years on the board of the Ontario Veterinary College Pet Trust. She is very proud to have been on the Board for the planning and opening of the “Animal Cancer Centre” at the Ontario Veterinary College. This “Animal Cancer Centre” is one of the most advanced animal cancer centres in all of North America.

Dr. Decaire sits on the board of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and is the small animal conference chair for the largest annual veterinary continuing education conference in Canada, held each year in Toronto.

Dr. Decaire has two grown sons and lives with her husband in Bracebridge. Other family members include two Ragdoll cats, Jerry and Avie, a new Persian cat named Shortcake, plus Jill the Cocker Spaniel.

In her personal, time Dr. DeCaire is an avid reader and a lifelong gardener. She loves to travel, especially exploring Canada (Nunavut and the Northwest Passage by boat is next on the bucket list), and spending time at the family log cabin near Bala.
